The Landing Chardonnay | 2017

$39.99NZD$431.89NZD

We believe that New Zealand is able grow some of the best Chardonnay in the world. Our ambition is to create a distinct Northland style that embraces vintage variation and is true to our site. The 2017 vintage is a classic example of what we aim to achieve.

Medium to full bodied, the palate has good weight and texture, with ripe citrus and tropical fruits layered on yellow stonefruit. The fruit profile reveals a creamy complexity, nutty oak and savoury characteristics that complement the subtle butterscotch finish.

The Landing Vineyard on the Purerua Peninsula has been thoughtfully farmed for over a century. The crumbly young clay soils these vines have been selectively planted in naturally moderate vigour, ensuring high-quality, well balanced wines.

The Landing Chardonnay grapes were 60% de-stemmed; 40% whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented at cool temperatures to preserve the fruit characters. A portion was pressed straight to barrel and allowed to ferment naturally with indigenous yeasts. Approximately 90% of this wine underwent malolactic fermentation(MLF). The wine was matured on fermentation lees in 30% new French oak for 11 months.
