The Landing Chardonnay | 2018

$39.99NZD$431.89NZD

We believe that New Zealand is able to grow some of the best Chardonnay in the world. Our ambition is to create a distinct Northland style that embraces vintage variation and is true to our site.

At The Landing, 2018 made for a rich, broad and appealing Chardonnay, with aromas of yellow stone fruit, honeydew melon, butterscotch and creamy lemon. The textural mouth feel has a lovely zing of apricot, lemon and white peach with a hint of vanilla from the French oak barrels, ready to drink right away.

The Landing Vineyard on the Purerua Peninsula has been farmed for over a century. The Chardonnay vines have been selectively planted on the dry north-facing slopes that naturally moderate vigour, ensuring high-quality, well balanced wines.

This fruit was whole-bunch pressed to tank, before being racked to barrels for fermentation. Fermentation was undertaken by a mix of indigenous and cultured yeast in 30% new French Oak barriques. Malolactic fermentation was encouraged to soften the acidity and adds a creamy mouthfeel to the wine. Regular lees stirring during the 10 month maturation also adds richness and complexity.
