The Landing Pinot Gris | 2019

$27.50NZD$297.00NZD

When given the restraint and respect it deserves in the vineyard and winery, Pinot Gris grapes deliver a richly textured, versatile food-friendly wine. That’s certainly our aim with our Northland style.

After a warm, dry growing season, we hand-picked these grapes in exacting lots over several days from late February to mid-March, to create a wonderfully characterful wine with just a touch of sweetness. Luxurious aromas of pear, baked apple, vanilla and white jasmine complement the off-dry palate of apple tatin and pear, giving it a moreish texture that will age gracefully over the next five years.

The Landing Vineyard on the Purerua Peninsula has been thoughtfully farmed for over a century. The crumbly young clay soils these vines have been selectively planted in naturally moderate vigour, ensuring high-quality, well balanced wines.

The Landing Syrah | 2015

$40.00NZD$432.00NZD

This true expression of Syrah, grown in our moderate Northland climate has always impressed. We aim to bottle the purity, concentration and complexity that is grown on our site. As such the wine is given minimal filtering. The near impenetrable force of the 2015 Syrah is dark, coiled and draped in black fruit. Youthful in appearance, this concentration will see this wine evolve in a fascinating way over the next 10 years.

The fresh nose of ripe blackberry, plum and liquorice marry with black pepper, earth and game, unveiling precise floral and mineral detail. The light touch of oak and coiled power will benefit from decanting before enjoying.

The Landing Vineyard on the Purerua Peninsula is bathed in long sunshine hours throughout the growing season, with a forgiving maritime breeze. These long hot summers make for hard work in the vineyard, but thankfully provide the ideal ripening conditions for Syrah grapes.
