Toitū carbonzero
The Landing's vineyard and winery sit within 400 hectares of privately owned landscape, home to native bird and animal life and to sites of cultural significance. These taonga (treasures) and our vineyard are at risk from the effects of climate change — sea level rise, flooding, bushfires and extreme weather.
For these reasons, and for the wellbeing of the planet, The Landing is committed to minimising our greenhouse gas emissions. In 2025 we were certified as a carbonzero organisation by Toitū Envirocare, meaning the businesses based here emit net zero greenhouse gas emissions in the course of their operation. This has been achieved through our own carbon sink, which currently absorbs more than three times the carbon our businesses emit. We are also working to a programme to reduce overall emissions over time.

Vineyard
The Landing's vineyard is certified by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand and managed using best practice viticulture. Water, energy and fertiliser use are continually monitored and optimised, while we preserve and improve air quality, soil quality and biodiversity. Equipment is chosen for a long lifespan, and materials are recycled and reused wherever possible.
The vineyard is dry farmed, so no irrigation is needed.

Winery
Our winery is designed to make the most of the sun and natural ventilation. Because all our fruit is processed on site, transport is kept to a minimum and we have direct control over our sustainability systems.
Property
Over the last 20 years, our native restoration and predator control work has regenerated more than 35 hectares of wetland and native bush at The Landing. It now supports rich birdlife, including one of the densest kiwi populations in the country, and forms the carbon sink behind our carbonzero certification.
The four Residences nestled within the landscape are sustainably designed, using local timbers and field stone from the property. Archaeological and cultural tours are available on request.
